Good News Report
Matt, Toothman, Dave Couchenour and Scott Staggs gave good news reports on SKMS, SKHS and SKE. Superintendent Grove shared that the enrollment numbers for the second semester Average Daily Membership (ADM) count on February 1 were 1,233.

Proposed Summer School Porgrams for 2023
Superintendent Grove reviewed the timeline for the 2023 summer school activities. Programs will be very similar to previous years and summer school will begin June 5 and run through June 22. Important dates: 2/14-review of summer school timeline; 3/7-approval of summer school programs; 4/11-employment of summer school teachers/staff; summer school bus route bid opening - 5/3; awarding of summer school bus routes/hiring of any needed additional summer school teachers and /or staff - 5/9.

October 12, 2022

2023 Budget
Approved the adoption of the 2023 school corporation budget for the education and operations funds. Final tax rates for the 2023 budget will be set at a later date when the assessed valuation is known for the school corporation. Also, the board approved resolutions to adopt the 2023-25 Capital Projects Plan, the 2023-27 Bus Replacement Plan, the Budget Form 4 Resolution of Appropriations and Total Tax Rate, to transfer amounts from the Education Fund to Operations Fund and to authorize Tax Anticipation Warrants.

2022 Budget
Approved the adoption of the 2022 school corporation budget for the education and operations funds. Final tax rates for the 2002 budget will be set at a later date when the assessed valuation is known for the school corporation. Also, the board approved resolutions to adopt the 2022-24 Capital Projects Plan, the 2022-26 Bus Replacement Plan, the Budget Form 4 Resolution of Appropriations and Total Tax Rate, to authorize the reduction of advertised tax levies on the 2022 budget if necessary, to transfer amounts from the Education Fund to Operations Fund and to authorize Tax Anticipation Warrants.

Approval of Collective Bargaining Agreement between the SKCTA and the SKSC
The South Knox Board of School Trustees ratified the collective bargaining agreement between the South Knox Classroom Teachers Association and the South Knox School Corporation. Among other items, teachers will receive a $3,000 increase to their base salary for the 2021-22 school year and a $3,000 increase to their base salary for the 2022-23 school year. The full agreement can be found on the SKSC website.

2020 Budget
Approved the adoption of the 2020 school corporation budget for the education and operations funds. Final tax rates for the 2020 budget will be set at a later date when the assessed valuation is known for the school corporation. Also, the board approved resolutions to adopt the 2020-22 Capital Projects Plan, the 2020 Bus Replacement Plan, the Budget Form 4 Resolution of Appropriations and Total Tax Rate and to authorize the reduction of advertised tax levies on the 2020 budget if necessary.

SKSCTA/SKSC Collective Bargaining Agreement
The School Board approved the collective bargaining agreement between the SKCTA and the SKSC which was recently ratified by the SKCTA. This is a two-year contract.

2019 BUDGET
Approved the adoption of the 2019 school corporation budget for the education and operatins funds. Final tax rates for the 2019 budget will be set at a later date when the assessed valuation is known for the school corporation. Also, the board approved resolutions to adopt the 2019-21 Capital Projects Plan, the 2019 Bus Replacement Plan, the Budget Form 4 Resolution of Appropriations and Total Tax Rate and to authorize the reduction of advertised tax levies on the 2019 budget if necessary.

SPARTA Project

An update on the SPARTA Project was presented by Scott Stenftenagel of The Stenftenagel Group, Clerk of the Works for the project.

The principals shared the recent and upcoming activities i their respective buildings. Superintendent Grove shared the enrollment numbers for the second semester (1,242) ADM count.

Summer Projects
Approved the following summer projects

Replacement of PLTW computers (18) at a total cost of $17,910
Replacement of three HVAC units at SKM/HS with gas units as part of ongoing HVAC replacement plan at a cost of $25,000.
Upgrade/replacement of auditorium stage lighting at a cost of $139,136.

Proposed 2018 Summer School Programs
Superintendent Grove reviewed the timeline for summer school activities, including the ddates of summer school June 11-June 28, review and discussion of summer school plans-2/13, school board approval of recommended summer school plans - 3/13, employment of summer school teachers-4/10, bid opening for summer school bus routs-5/1, and bus route contract awards/hiring of any needed additional summer school teachers and/or staff-5/8.

(.7005 up from .6601)
Kindergarten Round-up is scheduled for April 9, 10, and 11. A fourth day will be added if necessary.

Superintendent Grove reviewed the summer 2018 Capital Projects list and board approved the following projects:

Installation of lighst as soccer/track. Lights and poles from Musco Lighting and electric lines run by Niehaus Electric at total cost of $135,000.
Removal of trees and leveling of ground behind SKSC administration building by Black's Excavation at cost of $36,000.
Replacement of fresh-air intake unit in 1st/2nd grade wing with work and unit from Messmer Mechanical at a cost of $42,795.
Purchase of aerator for SKSC grounds at an estimated cost of $30,000.
Insulation of tractor shed at an estimated cost of $8,000.

Organized as a Board of Finance and approved investment procedures for the 2018 calendar year. Also heard a report that the school corporation earned $15,500.09 in interest during calendar year 2017.
Approved resolution to transfer funds from 2017 Transporation Fund to Rainy Day Fund ($250,000).
Approved the transfer of funds within accounts and between accounts for the 2017 budget year to balance all accounts.
Designated the Vincennes Sun-Commercial as the qualified publication in which the SKSC would publish notices.

2018 Budget
Approved the adoption of the 2018 school corporation budget for the general, debt service, transportation, capital projects, and bus replacement funds. Final tax rates for the 2018 budget will be set at a later date when the assessed valuation is known for the school corporation. Also, the board approved resolutions to adopt the 2018-20 Capital Projects Plan, the 2018 Bus Replacement Plan, the Budget Form 4 Resolution of Appropriations and Total Tax Rate and to aughorize the reduction of advertise tax levies on the 2018 budget if necessary.

South Knox SPARTA Project Update/Approval of Issuance of Second Round of Bonds
The SKSC Board of School Trustees received an update on the SPARTA Project from Clerk of the Works Scott Stenftenagel of TheStenftenagel Group.
The SKSC Board of School Trustees approved the issuance of Series 2017 Ad Valorem Property Tax First Mortgage bonds. These bonds will allow for the completion of the SPARTA Project. The first round of bonds was sold in 2016.

School board reviewed proposed dates for the approval of the 2018 school budgeet. The public hearing for he 2018 budget will be held on September 12 and the adoption of the 2018 budget is planned for October 10.

Knox County Special Education 2017-18 Budget
Approved the special education budget fo 2017-18 school year. South Knox works with North Knox and Vincennes schools to jointly operate programs for speical education students in Knox County.

SPARTA Project
Clerk of the Works Scott Stenftenagel gave an update on the SPARTA Project. The board also accepted alternate bid item #7 on the project.

Awarding of contract for SKE vestibule expansion project
Board awarded the promary construction contract for the SKE vestibule expansion project to Wolfe Construction upon the recommendation of administration, The Stenftenagel Group (SPARTA Project Clerk of the Works) and Schmidt Associates (SPARTA Project Architects). A review of bids showed Wolfe Construction to be the low bidder at $373,000.

Summer Projects

Approved the following summer projects:

Replacement of plastic seats and decking of SKE bleachers with wood. The plastic seats have not held up well over the years. Cost is $57,700 by Lee Company.
Replacement of greenhouse. The current greenhouse is barely functional and with the SPARTA Project, the greenhouse will need to be moved to a different location. Cost is estimated to be $55,000 (greenhouse from NEXUS will be built by SKSC maintenance staff, concrete work by Clodfelder Concrete and electric by Niehaus Electric).
New press box/restrooms at soccer pitch/track to replace existing press box. Cost is extimated to be $22,638. DC metals, Clodfelder and Peters will be contractors on this project.
Repair/repainting of soccer/track bleachers and concrete area around and underneath stands. Cost is estimated to be $14,321. Clodfelder will do concrete work and SKSC staff will do bleacher work.
New concessions stand at soccer pitch/track. New building will be constructed near scoreboard and start/finish line of track. Cost is estimated at $25,000. DC Metals, Clodfelder and Niehaus will be contractors.
New restrooms at baseball field. New restrooms will be located next to existing press box/concession stand. Cost is estimated at $22,587. DC Metals, Clodfelder and Peters will be contractors.
Replacement of copiers at SKE. Three large and one smaller Ricoh copiers will replace older copiers. Cost is $26,898 including maintenance agreement.
Replacement of three HVAC units with three gas units. Cost is estimated to be $26,800 by Peters.

Superintendent Grove reviewed the timeline for summer school activities, including the dates of summer school June 12-June 29, review and discussion of summer school plans -2/14, school board approval of recommended summer school plans - 3/14, employment of summer school teachers-4/11, bid opening for summer bus routes - 5/2, and bus route contract awards/ hiring of any needed additional summer school teachers and /or staff -5/9.

Superintendent Grove reviewed the DLGF Final 1782 Notice on Budget year 2017. The budget reflects a debt service reduction of $138,000, and a capital projects reduction of $647,314 from emergency allocations, but does show an increased AV ($581,644,702) and a new tax rate for our patrons (.6601 down from .6656)
Kindergarten Round-up is scheduled fro April 11, 12, and 13. A fourth day will be added if necessary.
Board approved renewal of KCDC membership
Board declared items obsolete, including solar panels, welders and typewriter, to allow for proper disposal
Board approved a resolution to appropriate money from the self-insurance fund. Appropriations will fund insurance premiums, VEBA contributions and government fees associated with the Affordable Care Act.

Representatives of Schmidt Associates gave final design, timeline and budget presentation on the SPARTA Project.

Selection of Vendor for Health Savings Accounts for Employee HSAs.
Approved the selection of Fifth Third Bank as vendor/manager of employee health savings accounts. Also, approved corporation payment of $2.00fee per participating member for the HSAs.

SKM/HS FFA Sponsor Jennifer Steffy and student Sydney McGiffen shared information about FFA activities, including attendance at the recent National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.

Amendments to 1997 Lease Agreement Between the South Knox School Corporation and the South Knox Building Corporation
Changes to the 1997 lease agreement between the SKSC and the South Knox Building Corporation are necessary to facilitate the sale of bonds for the SPARTA Project. Amendments include adding the rest of the South Knox Elementary School Building and SKSC athletic fields to the lease and incorporating the terms of the October 10, 2016 lease agreement into the 1997 lease.

South Knox Elementary School Vestibule Expansion Project
Approved project to expand the front vestibule at South Knox Elementary School to ease end of school congestion due to student pick-up. Project cost is extimated at $264,000 and will be paid for with Rainy Day Funds.

2017 Budget
Approved the adoption of the 2017 school corporation budget for the general, debt service, transportation, capital projects, and bus replacement funds. Final tax rates for the 2017 budget will be set at a later date when the assessed valuation is known for the school corporation. Also, the board approved resolutions to adopt the 2017-19 Capital Projects Plan, the 2017 Bus Replacement Plan, the Budget Form 4 Resolution of Appropriations and Total Tax Rate and to authorize the reduction of advertised tax levies on the 2017 budget if necessary.

July 12, 2016
Project and Preliminary Determination Hearing

School board conducted a 1028 Project and Preliminary Determination Hearing on SPARTA 2018. The board approved the project resolution for $15,115,000, the preliminary determination resolution to issue bonds and enter into a lease for the renovation of and improvements to the South Knox Elementary School and renovation of and improvements to the South Knox Middle/High School and the declaration of official intent to reimburse expenditures.

2017 School Corporation Budget
School board reviewed proposed dates for the approval of the 2017 school budget. The public hearing for the 2017 budget will be held on September 12 and the adoption of the 2017 budget is planned for October 10. The meeting with the DLGF representative is scheduled for August 24 at 2:00 at the Knox County Courthouse.

Facilities Assessment
Representatives from Schmidt Associates presented their report on the facilities assessment that was conducted over the past few months. The presentation reflected information gained from meetings with staff, the SPARTA 2018 committee and from walk throughs in the buildings.

Clerk of the Works
The board agreed to employ The Stenftenagel Group as the Clerk of the Works for the SPARTA 2018 project, should it be approved

SKE 5th grade teacher Debbie Kirk and some of her students shared information on the Shurley English curriculum at the March 14 meeting. This strategy uses a question and answer flow to recognize the role of each word in a sentence.

Superintendent Grove reviewed the timeline for summer school activities, including the dates of summer school June 6-June 23, review and discussion of summer school plans-2/8, school board approval of recommended summer school plans-3/14, employment of summer school teacher-4/11, bid opening for summer school bus routes-5/3, and bus route contract awards/hiring of any needed additional summer school teachers and/or staff-5/9.

Superintendent Grove reviewed the DLGF Final 1782 Notice on Budget year 2016. The budget reflects a general fund shortfall of $419,045, and a capital projects reduction of $772,166 from emergency allocations, but does show an increased AV ($567,107,371) and a new tax rate for our patrons (.6656 up from .6626)
Accepted a $717.92 donation from the Knox County Adult Leadership Class of 2013 to be used to enhance school safety.
Accepted a donation of $250.00 from Dr. Gregg for the SKM/HS Art Club.
Kindergarten Round-up is scheduled for April 12, 13, and 14. A fourth day will be added if necessary.
Approved Letter of Assurance with SKCTA concerning distribution of State Performance grant.

SKSC School Safety Specialist gave an update on the school safety program at SKSC, including the fact that SKSC received a Secured School Safety Grant for FY 2016 from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. 2016 Budget
Approved the adoption of the 2016 school corporation budget for the general, debt service, transportation, capital projects, and bus replacement funds. Final tax rates for the 2016 budget will be set at a later date when the assessed valuation is known for the school corporation. Also, the board approved resolutions to adopt the 2016-18 Capital Projects Plan, the 2016 Bus Replacement Plan, the Budget Form 4 Resolution of Appropriations and Total Tax Rate and to authorize the reduction of advertised tax levies on the 2016 budget is necessary.

Approval of Collective Bargaining Agreement between SKCTA and SKSC
Approved the new Master Contract ratified by the SKCTA on August 10. This agreement is for the 2015-2016 and the 2016-2017 school years. There will be a base increase at each step on the teachers' salary schedule of $1,400. Teachers will remain at their current respective steps in 2015-2016. Teachers will move up a step for 2016-2017.

Approval of increase to classified personnel wages
Approved a 3% increase to the hourly rate for classified personnel.

Approval of increases in administrative contracts for 2015-2016

Approval of New School Resource Officer Memorandum of Understanding with the Knox County Sheriff's Department

2016 School Corporation Budget
School board reviewed proposed dates for the approval of the 2016 school budget. The public hearing for the 2016 budget will be held on September 8 and the adoption of the 2016 budget is planning for October 12. The meeting with the DLGF representative is scheduled for August 24 at 2:00 at the Knox County Courthouse.

Annual Financial Report
SKSC Treasurer Lori Edwards reviewed the annual financial report for the corporation. This report will be submitted for publication.

Superintendent Grove reviewed the DLGF Final 1782 Notice on Budget year 2015. The budget reflects a general fund shortfall of $417,022, and a capital projects reduction of $724,416 from emergency allocations, but does show an increased AV ($560,691,147) and reduced tax rate for our patrons (.6626 down from .7547)
Declared as obsolete equipment a 40 ft. single person lift, 2 Miller welders, 1 bench drill press and 3 cash registers.

Good News Report
SKM/HS Guidance director Sara Hutchens shared information about dual credit via a Powerpoint presentation. Classes offered, state law and enrollment numbers were among the items shared.

Awarding of 2015-19 Transportation Contracts
Superintendent Grove presented recommendations on bus route awards for approval. All twenty-one routes were awarded to bidders per the recommendation of the school bus route bid committee. A recommendation to charge drivers 35% of the average daily rate for the use of school-owned buses was also approved. Drivers using school-owned buses will be responsible for fueling the bus and expected to return the bus clean.

Health Care Clinic Presentation
Representatives from two separate wellness clinics in Vincennes, GSH Wellness Matters and Tommy Wolfe Wellness Center, made presentations about their clinics.

Insurance Plan Review
Superintendent Grove reviewed the health insurance plan provided through the Indiana Public Schools Trust which is administered by Benefits 7. The level monthly premium will increase by 8% for the coming year. There is an increase in our re-insurance costs, as well as a slight increase in administrative costs. These increases are being impacted as well by a projected increase in anticipated claims. Superintendent Grove recommended that 5% of the increase be passed on to the employees while the corporation will increase its contribution by 3%.
The board also approved three insurance premium holidays for 2015. These holidays will be 4/10/15, 8/14/15, 12/4/15.

2015 Budget
Approved the adoption of the 2015 school corporation budget for the general, debt service, transportaion, capital projects, and bus replacement funds. Final tax rates for the 2015 budget will be set at a later date when the assessed valuation is known for the school corporation. The first reading of a policy written to deal with those students in the district who are home-schooled but wish to participate in education-based athletics at the SKSC. The policy was written with the IHSAA by-law regarding same as a template.

2015 School Corporation Budget
School board reviewed proposed dates for the approval of the 2015 school budget. The public hearing for the 2015 budget will be held on September 8 and the adoption of the 2014 budget is planned for October 13. The meeting with the DLGF representative is scheduled for August 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the Knox county courthouse.

Annual Financial Report
SKSC Business Manager Darlene Small reviewed the annual financial report for the corporation. This report will be submitted for publication.

2014-15 TItle I Application
Approved the application for the Title 1 program at South Knox Elementary to fund the Title I teacher salary and a portion of the Title I instructional assistant salary

Knox County Special Education 2014-2015 Budget
Approved the special education budget for 2014-2015 school year. South Knox works with North Knox and Vincennes schools to jointly operate programs for special education students in Knox County.

Summer 2014 Capital Projects
Approved the installation of new guard rails in the main gymnasium to meet with property, casualty and liability insurance company recommendations. New rail and installation will be at a cost of $29,000 with work to be done by Vincennes Welding.

Out of District Transfer Student Application and Elimination of Out of District Kindergarten Fee
Eliminated the tuition amounts for out-of-district cash transfer Kindergarten students ($300) and approved application form. Also, re-confirmed grade level capacities (K-6: 100; 7-12: 106) and application deadline for transfer students (May 20) per new Indiana legislation (HEA 1381).

Good News Report
Superintendent Grove reported that the South Knox Education Foundation had comtributed $20,000 to the two schools to help with cost. $3,000 was given to the library in each school to help pay for books and $7,000 was given to each school to help with the purchase of toner, laminating film and other supplies as well to help teacher acquire individual supplies for their classrooms.
SKE 1st Grade Teacher Jonell Harlow shared her classroom experience with the IPad project she is utilizing.

Approval of Resolutions
Approved resolution to oppose the elimination of the business personal property tax without a corresponding full replacement revenue stream by the State of Indiana.
Approved resolution to appropriate funds in the self-insurance fund in the amount of $450,000 and authorize three premium holidays for April 11, August 1, and December 5.

Resolution to Transfer Funds
Adoption of resolution to transfer $100,000 from the 2013 Capital Projects Fund and $300,000 from the 2013 Transportation Operating Fund to the Rainy Day Fund. This was possible when it was discovered that the excess tax settlement occurred because of delinquent property tax payments and therefore the funds will not have to be tranferred to the Levy Excess Fund.

Superintendent Grove reviewed the DLGF Final 1782 Notice on Budget year 2014. The budget reflects a general fund shortfall of $700,000, but does show an increased AV ($509,885,106) and reduced tax rate for our patrons (.7547 down from .8193).
Declared as obsolete equipment an analog soundboard that was replaced with a digital soundboard and an old electronic keyboard that has been replaced.
Kindergarten Round-up is scheduled for March 25, 26 and 27. A fourth day will be added if necessary.

South Knox School Corporation School Safety Specialist Designee Scott Staggs presented an update on the safe school activities that have taken place at South Knox Elementary and South Knox Middle/High School over the past twelve months, including the corporation's plan to apply for the IDHS grant for safe schools.
Also, SKE fourth grade teacher Jenna Branch shared the computer program Study Island and the various educational activites available with it.

Good News Report
SKM/HS Assistant Principal Dave Couchenour invited two 8th grade students to share information about their recently completed trip to Washington D.C. Lauren Parker and Collin Fausnaugh provided a Powerpoint presentation highlighting the sites visited.

Insurance Plan Review
Superintendent Grove reviewed the health insurance plan provided through the Indiana Public Schools Trust which is administered by Benefits 7, formerly Vincennes Insurance. The level monthly premium will remain the same for the coming year. There is an increase in our re-insurance costs, as well as a slight increase in administrative costs. These increases are being offset by a projected decrease in anticipated claims. Initial data indicated an increase in level monthly premiums of 8.7%, but subsequent checks resulted in the current status quo. Therefore, the board agreed to renew the plan with no increase for the employees.
The board named Superintendent Grove as the SKSC representative trustee for the Indiana Public Schools Trust. The board also adopted a resolution releasing any administrative employee from responsibility in the case that the corporation is found to be in violation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

2014 Budget
Approved the adoption of the 2014 school corporation budget for the general, debt service, transporation, debt service retirement severance, capital projects, and bus replacements funds. Final tax rates for the 2014 budget will be set as a later date when the assessed valuation is known for the school corporation. Also, the board approved resolutions to adopt the 2014-16 Capital Projects Plan, the 2014 Bus Replacement Plan and the Budget Form 4 Resolution of Appropriations and Total Tax Rate.

Good News Report
Tim Marsee led a tour of the completed Waste Water Treatment Plant and showed the upgrades to the system. The guided tour took place at 6:30 p.m. before the regular board meeting.

A public hearing was held on the 2014 budget. Adoption of the 2014 budget is planned for the October 14 meeting.

Good News Report
SKE Teachers Mary Jean Gardner, Jan Stangle and Jenna Branch presented a report on the summer activities program conducted during June.

NEOLA Policies Adoption
The sedond reading and subsequent adoption of two policies, one regarding mileage reimbursement for authorized travel and one regarding teacher prticipation in parent-teacher conferences, was done by the School Board.

The School Board approved a request to replace two faulty HVAC units at the SKM/HS with work to be completed by Peters Mechanical Systems at a cost of $22,500.00
The School Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding that corrects language in the Master Contract that was approved at the August 12, 2013 SKSC Board of School Trustees meeting.
Due to the opening of two slots in kindergarten at SKE, a drawing was held to determine which students on the waiting list would be admitted into the class, per state law.

Property and Casualty Liability Insurance Contracts
Awarded property and liability insurance coverage contract to Selective Insurance represented by Burkhart Insurance. Awarded workmen's compensation insurance coverage contract to Eastern Alliance Insurance represented by German-American Insurance.

Collective Bargaining Agreement Between SKSC and SKCTA
Approved collective bargaining agreement that had been ratified by the South Knox Classroom Teachers Association. The agreement is a two year contract that includes an stipend for eligible teachers for the 2013-2014 school year.

2014 Budget
Authorized the advertisement of the 2014 budget. Budget advertisement will be published in the Vincennes Sun-Commercial on August 27 and September 3. A public hearing for the 2014 budget, 2014-2016 CPF Plan and 2014-2025 Bus Replacement Plan will be held during the regularly scheduled board meeting on September 9. Adoption of the 2014 budget is planned for October 14.

Linda Witshork as Title I Instructor. Ms. Witshork has been employed as a teacher at South Knox for forty-one years. We thank her for her years of dedicated service.
Doug Reynolds as fifth grade teacher. Mr. Reynolds had been employed as a teacher at South Knox for thirty years. We thank him for his years of dedicated service.

2014 School Corporation Budget
School board reviewed proposed dates for the approval of the 2014 school budget. The public hearing for the 2014 budget will be held on September 9 and the adoption of the 2014 budget is planned for October 14.

Cash Transfer Tuition Application and Amounts for 2013-14
Approved the tuition amounts for out-of-district cash transfer students ($300 for kindergarten, $0 for grades 1-12 applying by deadline) and approved application form. Also, set grade level capacities (K-6: 100; 7-12: 106) and application deadline for cash transfer students (February 14, 2014) per new Indiana legislation (HEA 1381).

Knox County Special Education 2013-14 Budget
Approved the special education budget for 2013-14 school year. South Knox works with the North Knox and Vincennes schools to jointly operate programs for special education students in Knox County.

Overnight Trips
Approved overnight trips for:

FFA students to FFA state convetion at Purdue on June 18-20.
Girls' cross country camp at Boulders Lodge in Brown County on August 6-8.
Boys' cross country camp at Hoosier National Forest at Cannelton on August 6-8.

Good News Report
Knox County Sheriff Mike Morris shared with the board activites that the county police department is working on, including recent training sessions on various scenarios in the South Knox Schools.

Summer Projects
Approved remaining 2013 summer CPF projects, including: remodeling three classrooms in the middle/high school by SKSC staff at a cost of $9,000.00; replacing flooring, ceiling and repainting the main office/guidance area of the middle high school by SKSC staff at a cost of $25,000; renovating the lobby restrooms by SKSC staff at a cost of $40,096; purchasing a reel-type mower for mowing Bermuda-grass fields from Scotty's of Haubstadt at a cost of $5,800; and constructing a concrete retaining wall/walkway on third base side of girls softball field at a cost of $5,800.

Summer School for 2013
Summer school programs will be very similar to previous years with 14 half-days from June 10 to June 27. High school math/English will include instruction beyond June 27 via MyBig Campus.

Approved 2013 summer school transportation contracts including: Route #1 - Gloria Loudermilk; Route #2 - Chad Hansen; Route #3 - Brian Downen; and Route #4 - Margaret Steininger.
Reviewed student/parent handbook changes for SKE and SKM-HS.
Approved open gymnasium programs for boys and girls basketball. Programs are a total of ninety hours for each.
Approved the adoption of reading textbooks for grades K-6. The textbook selected for reading is published by Pearson and are the grade-appropriate Scott Foresman - Reading Street books.
Approved the advertisement for bids for property/liability insurance coverage, with Terry Hoke approved as consultant.

Good News Report
South Knox High School studewnt, Tanner Snider made a great presentation on Down with Depression, a project by the Knox County Youth Leadership.

Summer Projects
Approved the installation of a new gas water heater to replace the old electric water heater at SKM\HS. The old unit is down to three working elements of nine.
Approved the installation of additional security cameras at SKM\HS. This will provide for more coverage in the building.
Approved the replacement of carpeting in the Grade 1/2 wing of SKE. Corpet is original from the building's construction.

Summer School for 2013
Approved the employment of most of the summer school teaching staff for the 2013 summer school programs. Programs will be very similar to previous years with 14 half-days from June 10 to June 27

Purchase of School Bus
Approved the purchase of a 2012 72-passenger Maxx Force DT to replace Corporation Bus #18 as per the 2013 bus replacement plan.

Superintendent Grove reported that the South Knox School Corporation achieved Riley Corporation status for the current school year due to the amount of money raised for Riley Children's Hospital in 2011-2012

Summer Projects
Approved the following summer capital projects:

New corporation phone system. System will be installed in late June/early July. Bid of $13,060 from AXIATP was accepted.
Top dress soccer fields. Bid of $2,666.00 from Tenbarge was accepted.

Final Report on the 2013 SKSC Budget
Superintendent Grove reviewed the final 2013 budget figures as received from the Department of Local Government Finance.
