Scholarship Guide

Current scholarship opportunities will always be posted in the following locations:

There are many sources for scholarships. Some examples are

  • All universities that the students is considering attending.
  • Community foundations, organizations, or clubs.
  • Associations related to field or study.

Scholarships generally have a variety of criteria that have to be met by the recipient. Criteria are what the donor determines are important points regarding the student they want to assist. Common university and organization scholarship criteria may include any or a combination of:

  • Resident are (state, city, county region, or school corporation).
  • Grade point average and class rank.
  • Student enrollment status and major of study.
  • Family affiliation with or membership in an organization.
  • Leadership qualities and community/school involvement.
  • Financial need.

It is a good idea for students to develop a resume of their achievements and activities, including employment and extracurricular involvement, when applying for scholarships.

The first step is to apply to colleges and universities. Determine if a separate application is required for each scholarship. Follow these guidelines when applying for scholarships:

  • Apply for any/all scholarships to every university you are considering.
  • Complete each application fully and legibly.
  • Keep a copy of all applications.
  • Pay attention to deadlines!
  • File the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by April 15. File it every year.

ELKS LEGACY AWARDS
Seniors with a parent or grandparent as an active Elks member can apply for the Elks National Foundation Legacy Award. Scholarship information can be found at

and is due by February 2, 2018

GOOD SAMARITAN HOSPITAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Several scholarship opportunities are available through the GSH Foundation. Applicants must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher and pursue a field of study in the area of healthcare. Scholarship criteria and applications are available in the Guidance Office. Completed applications are due to the GSH Foundation by February 28, 2018.

KIWANIS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
The Vincennes Kiwanis Club awards a monetary scholarship each year to a graduating senior. This award can be up to $1,000 to a student who is an active Key Club member, has a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, participates in community service, and has a Kiwanis family member. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and due by March 31, 2018.

RAINTREE CONSULTING SCHOLARSHIP
Raintree Consulting, LLC in partnership with the South Knox Education Foundation, provides a scholarship to an SK senior who plans to major in a Social Work, Criminology, Sociology, Psychology or a related field. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and due by Friday, April 13, 2018.

ROTARY CHARLES CRONENWETT SCHOLARSHIP
The Vincennes Rotary Club offers this $2,000 scholarship to deserving Knox county high school seniors witha cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Applicants should not have an immediate family member as a current Vincennes Rotarian. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and due by March 9, 2018.

ROTARY LaROCHE SCHOLARSHIP
The Vincennes Rotary Club awards the LaRoche scholarship in the amount of $500 to Knox County High School seniors planning to attend Vincennes University in the fall. Applications and guidelines are available in the guidance Office and due by March 9, 2018.

SOUTH KNOX CLASSROOM TEACHERS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is for a senior whose parent is a member and in good standing with the Sjouth Knox Classroom Teachers Association. Applications are available in the guidance Office and due to Mr. Greg Laake at SKMHS by May 1, 2018.

 

FRITCHTON ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

This scholarship is to a graduating senior with a direct blood relative who attended or graduated from Fritchton High School. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and due by March 16, 2018.


 

WABASH VALLEY OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
Student athletes (poayers and managers) who have participated in a sport for two years or more and maintained a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better can apply for this scholarship. Applications are available in Mrs. Shepard's office and due by March 1, 2018.


 

ETFCU TED HITCH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Students or parents/guardians must be members of Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union for one year or more to apply. Applicants must have a 3.75 GPA or higher. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and due by March 2, 2018 or at

CERES SOLUTIONS SCHOLARSHIP

Ceres Solutions provides 10 $1,000 scholarships for graduating seniors pursuing higher education. Students involved in four years of 4-H or 2 years in your local FFA program should apply. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and due by March 1, 2018.


 

INDIANA BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
Nancy Jayne Memorial Scholarship

The Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust is accepting applications for the Nancy Jaynes memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is up to $1,500 to an Indiana High School Senior whose parent is battling breast cancer or who has lost a parent to breast cancer. Applications are due by February 2, 2018 and can be found online at:

OAR SCHWALLIE FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

The Schwallie Family Scholarship through the Organization for Autism Research supports the post-secondayr, undergraduate education of students with an autism spectrum diagnosis. Applications are available online due by May 7, 2018 at:

KNOX COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

DOROTHY M. WALTERS SCHOLARSHIPS AT VINCENNES UNIVERSITY
This scholarship is for students majoring in the field of Education. Scholarship money is for two to four years at Vincennes University or two years at VU and two additional years at another baccalaureate college/university. The amount may not exceed $10,000 per year and will supplement other financial aid received. Applicants must have a 3.3 cumulative GPA or higher and be in the top 20% of their graduating class. Students must also have an 1150 SAT score or greater and/or a 23 ACT score or above. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and due by January 26, 2018.


 

GRABBE-UTLEY SCHOLARSHIP TO VINCENNE UNIVERSITY
This scholarship opportunity is for seniors intending to go to Vincennes University. Grant are for four years, provided the student maintain the required academic credentials. Applicants must have a B average or 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and due by January 26, 2018.


 

KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
This assistance program is available for any Indiana graduating senior with a B average (3.0 cumulative GPA) or better. Applications are available in the Gudance Office and more information is available at:

POLK-DECKER SCHOLARSHIP TO VINCENNES UNIVERSITY
Students enrolling at Vincennes university may apply for the Polk-Decker Scholarship. Applicants must have a B average or 3.0 GPA or better. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and due by January 26, 2018.


 

WIN ENERGY REMC SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is for graduating seniors who have parents or guardians that are members of WIN Energy REMC. Applicants mjust have a C average (2.0) GPA or better. Applications are available in the Guidance Office or can be found at:

Completed applications are due no later that February 16, 2018.


 

ESA FOUNDATION

The Epsilon Sigma Alpha Foundation offers more than 200 scholarships a year for deserving students. Applications are reviewed by the Regional Scholarship Committee. Information and applications are available at:

 TROPICANA EVANSVILLE PROJECT 21 SCHOLARHIPS

Tropicana Evansville is seeking potential recipients for a scholarship. Project 21 is an educational program designed to communicate the consequences associated with under aged gambling. Students may submit essays, posters, and/or videos/DVDs. Applications and guidelines are available in the Guidance Office and due by April 6, 2018.


 

INDIANA DAR SCHOLARSHIP
The Indiana DAR Scholarship is a $500 award to a Hoosier student sponsored by the Francis Vigo Chapter in Vincennes. The application for this scholarship must include a sponsorship letter. Application packets are available in Mrs. Shepard's office and due by March 1st.

VINCENNES UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Vincennes University Foundation offers several scholarship opportunities for students including the following: Val-Sal, Presidential, Blue and Gold, Academic/Technical Honors diploma. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and due by January 19, 2018.


 GPC WASHINGTON EMPLOYEES SCHOLARSHIP

ELKS LEGACY AWARDS

Eligibility: High school seniors going on to college who are the children or grandchildren of dues-paying Elks are welcome to apply. Applicants compete separately against other children and grandchildren from the state of their sponsoring Elks Lodge. They are judged on the core values of the Elks National Foundation: Knowledge, Charity, Community Service, Integrity

 ELKS EMERGENCY EDUCATIONAL GRANTS

Eligibility: Emergency Educational Grants provide college financial assistance to children of deceased or totally disabled Elks in the form of renewable, one-year grants ranging up to $4,000. Students must demonstrate financial need to qualify for an EEG. This grant is for educational assistance only and is not intended to cover the entire cost of a college education.

 VINCENNES UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships application for 2018-2019 academic year are no on-line at WWW.VINU.EDU/SCHOLARSHIP  
Be sure and click on the 2018-2019 academic year. For all consideration of all scholarships, this application must be submitted by . After that deadline scholarships are awarded based on availablility. For a complete scholarship listing, please to to    www.vinu.edu/scholarships    All scholarship applications submitted will be considered for an awared by a committee that will review each applicant's qualifications. Each committee's goal is to distribute more that $1,000,000 to those who are most qualified and/or most in need. A student may receive mulitple awards, but only one academic scholarship. Scholarship awarding is contigent on a student's successful admission to VU for the specific term(s) requested. For first and full consideration (including all Academic Scholarships), scholarship applications must be received by. Scholarship applications submitted after the deadline are not eligible for Academic Scholarships (Val/Sal, Presidential, Blue & Gold, Academic Honors Diploma).
